Use Magic Earth with your Bluetooth system

When navigating with Magic Earth and your phone is connected to a car media device, you can get the navigation instructions either over the car speakers or over your phone speaker. Here is how you can do this:

Navigation instructions over your car speakers

When you connect your phone to a car media device, by default you get the navigation instructions over the car speakers.

However, if:
- During navigation you listen to background music or podcasts on the car media device or
- The audio configuration of your Bluetooth system supports only Hands-free Profile (HFP)
you must turn ON the “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” option in Settings > General > Sound in order to get instructions over the car speakers.

Navigation instructions over your phone speaker

To get the navigation instructions over your phone speaker, turn ON the "Play Sound to Phone Speaker" option in Settings > General > Sound.

IMPORTANT: When “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” is ON, "Play Sound to Phone Speaker" is OFF and vice versa. Only one of the two options can be active at a time.

Navigation instructions when listening to background music or podcasts

If you are listening to background music or podcasts when navigation instructions are played:
- on Android the music or podcast will be muted, faded or paused, depending on the Android version and the sound configuration of the other app or car media device.
- on iOS the music will be faded and the podcast will be paused.

IMPORTANT: The “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” and "Play Sound to Phone Speaker" settings are mutually exclusive.

When you connect your phone to a car media device, you automatically receive the navigation instructions on the car speakers.

If the audio configuration of your Bluetooth system supports only Hands-free Profile (HFP), then turn ON the “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” option in Settings > General > Sound.

To hear the navigation instructions on the phone speaker, Turn ON the "Play Sound to Phone Speaker" option in Settings > General > Sound.

1. Listening to background music or podcasts on your phone

If you are listening to background music or podcasts on the phone when navigation instructions are played:
- on Android the music or podcast will be muted or faded, depending on the other app's implementation of sound handling and Android version.
- on iOS the music will be faded and the podcast will be paused.

2. Listening to background music or podcasts on your car media device

If the background music or podcast is played on the car media device, to receive the navigation instructions on the car speakers, turn ON the “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” option in Settings > General > Sound.

IMPORTANT: The “Play Voice as phone Call over Bluetooth” and "Play Sound to Phone Speaker" settings are mutually exclusive.
